Plinia grandifolia is a rare jaboticaba species in the Myrtaceae family, native to the Atlantic Rainforest of southeastern Brazil. Known as “jaboticaba graúda” (large jaboticaba), it is a small to medium-sized tree that typically grows 4–8 meters tall in its natural understory habitat. It produces dark purple, edible fruits directly on the trunk, usually measuring about 1.5–2.5 cm in diameter. The species is considered Near Threatened due to habitat loss within its native range.
