We Didn’t Have a Green Thumb—We Were Growing the Wrong Plants
For years, we dreamed of creating a garden that could provide our family with fresh, healthy food. We built raised beds, planted directly in the ground, and experimented with containers. But no matter what we tried, our plants struggled in Florida’s heat, humidity, sandy soil, and unpredictable weather.
Like many Florida gardeners, we began to wonder: Is it really possible to grow an abundant food garden here?
The answer changed everything.
Through years of research, trial, error, and hands-on experience, we discovered the secrets of tropical growing. We learned that success is not about fighting Florida’s climate, it is about choosing the right plants and working with it.
Once we changed the way we gardened, everything began to flourish. Our backyard filled with thriving fruit trees, edible plants, and fresh food we could harvest throughout the year. Before long, our garden had outgrown our suburban property.
That journey led us to a cozy farm in Loxahatchee, Florida, and brought The Loxahatree to life.
