Garcinia Species

The genus Garcinia belongs to the Clusiaceae family and includes nearly 400 identified species of trees and shrubs found across tropical regions of Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania. Commonly referred to as “saptrees” or “mangosteens,” these plants range from well‐known fruit‐bearing species to lesser‐known varieties—one of which, Garcinia cadelliana, is now extinct or critically endangered due to habitat loss.
